Common rail injectors: precision and reliability for optimum performance

Injectors or atomisers deliver the fuel into the cylinders with great precision. With the right timing and atomisation, together with the oxygen present, they ensure optimum combustion. The load on injectors is enormous. Exposed to great forces and high temperatures, they operate under difficult conditions. Stringent environmental requirements place high demands on injector technology. It is therefore easy to imagine that, after a long time, the operation is no longer optimal and replacement is necessary. Büchli stocks a large stock of CR injectors in original quality in both new, and (factory) exchange with both coil magnets and piezo elements as controls.

Possible causes Common rail injector failure:

  • External contamination
  • Short circuit in the coil
  • Electrical control disrupted
  • Thermal overload
  • Normal wear and aging
  • Lubricating properties of the fuel deficient

Replace only the faulty injectors or all of them anyway?

In principle, replacing only the defective ones is sufficient. However, some injectors may be on the verge of rejection. We then recommend replacing these as well to avoid a follow-up repair in the (short) term.

To guarantee proper operation, it is very important to carefully follow the manufacturer’s installation instructions. Clean work is an absolute necessity. Naturally, any cause of injector failure must be eliminated prior to installation.
